Out of Camp Trips

In addition, bus trips to Stone Mountain State Park (and various other destinations) are offered each session. Campers see the 700’ granite dome as it rises from the valley below and enjoy the two-mile round-trip walk to Stone Mountain Waterfalls.

Camp Cheerio offers transportation to and from camp for those needing such a service. All shuttles will leave from the Central Family YMCA (150 W. Hartley Ave. in High Point, NC) at noon on the opening day of each session. All closing day shuttles will arrive back at the Central Family YMCA by noon. There is a $50 fee for transportation to be paid at the time of registration.

Arrival and Departure

Plan to arrive at camp from 2:00 - 3:30 PM on Monday, opening day. Check-in will be located in the dining hall. Please DO NOT arrive before 2:00 PM. Campers may depart anytime after breakfast, up to 9:30 AM, on closing day.

Spiritual Emphasis

As a branch of the YMCA, senior adults are offered the opportunity to enjoy Christian fellowship. Each day begins and ends with a devotion.

Health and Safety

Senior Adult Camp is open to those aged 55 and older, who are healthy and self-sufficient. Campers must be able to climb steps and hills on their own in various places throughout camp. Campers must complete a medical form which will be sent prior to your arrival at Cheerio. Please complete and bring with you on opening day. Camp Cheerio does not carry accidental injury insurance. It is the camper's responsibility to provide his/her coverage.
