Charlie RoethlingCharlie Roethling will be on the Cheerio Staff this summer again as a member of Climbing Staff and a Senior Counselor. This will be Charlie's 13th year with Cheerio. Currently, Charlie attends UNC Chapel Hill and is studying Biology and Chemistry to eventually become an Orthopedic Surgeon. Charlie's favorite camp meal is Cold Cuts and he finds great joy in hanging out with his friends and his dog, Riley. Being a Senior Counselor and giving children a wonderful experience, is why Charlie is so excited to return this summer.

Mallory LinkMallory Link is from Chapel Hill, attends UNC Chapel Hill, and is majoring Human Development and Family Studies. For Mallory's 9th summer at Cheerio, she will be a Senior Counselor. She is excited to be in this role because children have such positive attitudes and are enthusiastic in everything they do. It makes her job worthwhile to see them enjoying themselves at Cheerio.

Ashley McDonaldAshley McDonald is returning for her third summer at Camp Cheerio as a Senior Counselor for Coed Camp and Climbing Staff for Girls. Ashley attends Appalachian State University and enjoys reading, watching Netflix, and spending time with family and friends. Her favorite snack is Peanut Butter and Bananas, but her favorite camp meal is chicken patties.

Olivia FariaOlivia Faria, pronounced like Maria, will be joining us for her second summer as a Senior Counselor. Olivia attends UNC Wilmington and is studying International Business, Spanish and Nutrition. Being outside is how Olivia enjoys spending her free time and she looks forward to teaching young campers things that are lasting and meaningful. Olivia is also a certified Scuba Diver.

Mereweather LackeyMereweather Lackey is getting ready to celebrate her double Milestone this summer, 10 years at Camp Cheerio! This summer Mereweather will be serving as one of Cheerio's Program Directors. She likes to spend her free time being adventurous, such as hiking or spontaneous road trips. Mereweather hopes to always work in camping through studying Sports and Recreation with a minor in Psychology at Ole Miss.

Liza BrownFor her 13th summer at Camp Cheerio, Liza Brown will be serving as one of our Events Directors. Liza is originally from Greensboro and attends UNC Chapel Hill to study Biology, with plans to become a Pediatrician. Goldfish, popcorn, and a really cold Diet Coke are Liza's favorite snack, which she enjoys while re-watching her favorite shows, Gossip Girl and Grey's Anatomy. She is especially excited to lead two of her favorite camp events this summer, Tillies and 4th of July.

Madison BenfieldMadison Benfield attends NCSU and is from Winston-Salem. This summer will be Madison's 13th and she will be working as a Senior Counselor during Girls Camp. Madison finds joy in being with her friends and laughing. She is looking forward to giving the same wonderful experiences to her campers as her counselors gave her as a camper. Madison is also excited to eat some of Cheerio's yummy Mac and Cheese!

Emily HollerEmily Holler is returning as a Second Year Junior Counselor. She is most excited about Store, Skits and playing Spy Hunter. Emily is from Charlotte and will be attending UNC Chapel Hill in the fall. When asked what her favorite thing to do at camp is, Emily replied, "Cabin Dance Parties". Emily grew up as a camper at Camp Cheerio and respects that her counselor taught her how to be an ambitious and respectful teenager. She hopes to pass this along to her campers as well.

Jake FritzJake Fritz will be returning to Cheerio for his 7th summer this year. Jake will serve as part of our Arts Staff during Girls Camp and as a Senior Counselor for Coed Camp. Jake is from Greensboro NC, but currently attends Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ. For Jake, Cheerio is the happiest place on earth and working with children is the most rewarding job he can have. Although he loves Pho (Vietnamese Soup), his favorite camp food is the blueberry and chocolate chip muffins.

Claire VinesClaire Vines is from Trussville Al and attends The University of Alabama! This summer will be Claire's 12th on the mountaintop. You will find Claire as a Senior Counselor during Girls Camp and working with the Riding Staff during Coed Camp. Claire's favorite snack is apples, therefore, her quote to live by is, "6 apples a day keeps the doctor away". Plus, Claire doesn't like going to the doctor.

Becca AdkinsBecca Adkins will be with us for her 11th summer as a Junior Counselor. Becca is from High Point NC and plans to attend East Carolina University in the fall. Becca's personal motto is, "Do your best and forget the rest"! You can catch Becca hanging out with her friends, playing sports, watching TV and eating CheezIt snacks during her free time. Spending time at Camp Cheerio and working with kids is her favorite thing to do.

Annie FutrellAnnie Futrell has been coming to Camp Cheerio for 7 summers. This year Annie will be a Senior Counselor during Coed Camp and she is so excited! Annie attends Appalachian State University and is studying to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. Being outside, hiking and reading are ways that Annie enjoys her free time. She loves working with children because they are so carefree and spirited.

Abby BoothAbby Booth is returning for her second summer at Camp Cheerio all the way from University of Central Florida. Abby will be working this summer as our Assistant Aquatics Director. Kickboxing and traveling are two of Abby's favorite pastimes, and she is looking forward to being back on top of the mountain of Camp Cheerio to see her friends and build new relationships this summer. She is also very excited about the Friday night fried chicken meals.

Lizzie SmithLizzie Smith is from High Point NC and works with kids in an afterschool program at an elementary school. Lizzie has grown up in a family with a long Cheerio history, but this will be Lizzie's first summer on the Cheerio Staff. Lizzie loves Fig Newtons and Goldfish, and spends her free time being outside.

Cameron SaundersCameron Saunders is from Greenville, SC and will be joining Cheerio as a Junior Counselor during Coed Camp. She knows that children are very impressionable and is looking forward to being a positive role model in their lives this summer. A fun fact about Cameron is that she is allergic to Skittles, but doesn't know why? Cameron loves running, playing volleyball, reading, and spending time with God.

Kayla WatsonKayla Watson will be serving this summer as a Senior Counselor during Coed Camp. Kayla has been with Camp Cheerio for 7 years, both as a camper and staff. Being at Cheerio brings Kayla great joy, as well as puppies and sunny days. Kayla attends NCSU and is studying Graphic Design. Her favorite snacks are Blueberries and Sour Patch Kids.

Emily PottThis will be Emily Potts' first year at Cheerio. She comes to us from Winston-Salem and attends University of Virginia. Emily's absolute favorite food is Mellow Mushroom Pizza and snack, popcorn. Emily will be working as part of our Climbing Staff and as a Senior Counselor. A fun fact about Emily is that she has a Dachshund and she dresses that dog up as a hotdog each Halloween.

Mary Margaret AchurchMary Margaret Achurch is from Beaufort, SC and attends Clemson University. As a Senior Counselor for Girls Camp, Mary Margaret is excited to spend her 10th summer with another group of campers. Being at Cheerio in the summers is her favorite time of the year. Mary Margaret loves Peanut Butter M&Ms and she enjoys traveling, reading and going to movies.

Nathan WalkerOne of our returning Junior Counselors this summer is Nathan Walker. Nathan lives in Raleigh NC and will be attending Virginia Tech in the fall. He is looking forward to seeing his returning campers, meeting new campers, and seeing all of his fellow counselors. Nathan enjoys visiting the Rocky Mountains to snow ski, as well as spending time with his brothers and neighborhood friends. He hopes to study physics in college and one-day work for NASA. Nathan's favorite camp food is Chicken Tenders and his favorite snack is Smartfood White Cheddar Popcorn.

Mackenzie SmetMackenzie Smet has been a part of Camp Cheerio for 15 years and will be serving as one of our CIT Directors this summer. Mackenzie has worked as a Junior Counselor, Senior Counselor, Riding Staff, and Head Counselor in years past. Mackenzie will be graduating from UNC Chapel Hill in May with degrees in Linguistics, History, Speech and Hearing Science. Her favorite food is any kind of cheese and Hint of Jalapeno chips.
