Tales of the Mountain

The incredible scenery all around camp makes it the perfect place for creative writing. In this relaxed activity, campers hike to spots all over the mountain where they write haiku, poetry and short stories about camp life, nature and the environment around them. Some of these pieces are selected for publication in the camp newspaper.

Meet the Neighbors

Camp Cheerio and the surrounding area are home to hundreds of animals. These include snakes, lizards, toads, box turtles, bears, deer, and a spectacular array of birds including gold finches, barn swallows, bluebirds and the rare pileated woodpecker. Our goal is to help campers learn to recognize these animals and come to appreciate their beauty and importance.
