LEADERSHIP

MICHAUX CROCKER, Camp Director
Michaux is our full-time camp director. He has spent a lifetime with the YMCA program and with Camp Cheerio itself, having been a Cheerio camper, counselor, program director and assistant director. Michaux began his YMCA career in l988 after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Michaux lives on-site with his wife, Michelle, along with their two sons, Jack and Luke. Michelle is also a former Cheerio counselor. Today she is extensively involved in the total camp program, helping in a variety of areas.

MARY QUINN
Mary Quinn loves Camp Cheerio. She joined Cheerio full time in 2003 after an extensive career at Appalachian State University. Mary brings an enthusiasm to Cheerio which is unmatched in the camping Industry. She holds a doctorate of education and is well versed in all aspects of the camp operation.

SHANE BROWN
As a former camper, counselor, and staff member, Shane brings many years of experience, as well as his love of Cheerio, back to the mountaintop. Shane earned his B.S. degree from N.C. State in Parks and Recreation Management and has experience working with municipal recreation. Shane directs the Senior Adult Camp and oversees program development and conference groups.

MARTYN ARMSTRONG, Food Service Director
Martyn is Camp Cheerio's Food Service Director. He began his Cheerio career in 1996 as a summer camp counselor on an international exchange program. Martyn hails from England. He oversees all aspects of the food service operation from ordering food to preparing meals. Martyn is credited with bringing the Salad Bar to Camp Cheerio!

LYNDA NORRIS, Registrar
When you call the office, chances are the friendly voice you hear will be Lynda. She is an invaluable member of the camp staff and has been with us for the past 15 years. Lynda is a former camper, having attended Cheerio in the 1960's. Her daughter is also a former camper and counselor, and, hopefully, her granddaughters will be attending camp in the not so distant future.
