Overview

Nestled on top of the Blue Ridge Mountains at Roaring Gap, North Carolina, Camp Cheerio is the ideal location for conducting your church retreat, school outing, or non-profit conference. Founded in 1960 by the High Point YMCA, Camp Cheerio is experienced in providing groups with comfortable lodging, well-balanced meals, meeting facilities, and a caring and knowledgeable staff. Camp Cheerio can help develop a program to meet each group's needs and make your upcoming meeting or retreat a success.

Team Building

Cheerio's Initiative Course offers groups of any age a chance to enhance their team skills through a series of physical and mental challenges. Using planning, communications skills, and perseverance, groups of 8-12 people work together as a unit to accomplish a common goal. Elements on the IC include The Maze, Spider Web, The Wall, Track Walk, Trust Fall, and many others. Groups can schedule their two to three hour exercise for the morning or afternoon; a small additional fee is required.

Location

Camp Cheerio is located just off Highway 21 in Roaring Gap, North Carolina, about 19 miles north of Elkin, in the northwestern corner of the state. From I-77 North, take exit #83 (Highway 21 North - Sparta) and follow 21 to the top of the mountain. Take a left at our sign just 1.5 miles past High Meadows Country Club.
