Description of Categories

Trekkers- These are entry level trips. All of these courses are taught at the beginner's level. No experience is necessary. The courses that specialize in one or two areas will progress according to the abilities of the group.
Mountaineers- These are intermediate level trips. Some experience is necessary. The Seekers is one step up from the Standard trip. These participants will stay out from base camp for longer periods of time. For the Rock Climbing course, campers should have done some climbing before and have a desire to learn more about the sport.
Explorers- Our BIG TRIPS of the year! This year we will be traveling to the coast of North Carolina for 10 days to do some sailing, surf kayaking, wind surfing, surfing, and of course some beach time. No previous experience is necessary for this trip. We are also offering a wonderful experience in the Cascade Mountains of Canada - the Banff, and Lake Louis region of Alberta, as well as British Columbia, Canada. See below for more details on the Canada trip.

*New in 2003: Alleghany Passage is a trip for those who have completed a Sampler trip and are ready to move on to a different trip. This trip will be in the beautiful and exciting area of Ohiopyle Pennsylvania. As with the Samplers, the participants will be able to participate in several activities such as rafting on the Youghiogheny River, backpacking, rock climbing and biking.

The Northern Whitewater trip is simply the new name for what used to be called "5 Rivers in 5 Days" (Northern) trip, since there are only 4 rivers involved. The New River portion consists of a two-day raft trip.

Exploring the Canadian Rockies via Banff and Jasper National Parks in British Columbia and Alberta for 2 weeks. We will backpack 3 nights/4 days in the high country, experience a rafting expedition, a day of rock climbing, a boat tour on Lake Louise, sea kayaking on a lake, hikes, road bike touring, and touring the towns of Banff and Jasper. Airfare is included in price.
